The Last Pit Ponies.

In this special DVD we look at the last of the pit ponies. They eventually left underground for the surface and retirement in March, 1994.

We first visit the surface in the early days and witness the ponies at work in the supply yard, They pull trams full of timber, girders and even their food.

We then go underground to see ponies at work getting supplies to the coal face with the miners. Also at work on salvage and helping retrieve as much as possible from a coal face that finished coal work.

We visit the underground stables and see the vet checking ponies over, see them being washed down from a hard shift and groomed.

This eventually leaves us to witness them being brought to the surface by the cage and to retirement.
